This poster was created for Curved, a fictional magazine honoring feminist women throughout history. Inspired by the phrase “keep body and soul together,” the concept explores survival under harsh and dehumanizing conditions. Saartjie Baartman is reimagined here not as an object of exploitation but as a figure of strength and defiance. Set against a barren desert that symbolizes struggle, she stands tall, with a subtle green accent woven into her form to suggest life, hope, and the enduring bond between body and soul.
The final composition was built through image blending, color matching, and thoughtful integration of typography to echo the central message. Every design choice was made to capture the emotional and historical weight of her story while honoring her resilience and the broader spirit of survival and identity.
