DreamPort

Trompe-l’œil Poster / Photoshop Composite

For this project, I designed a Trompe-l’œil advertisement for a fictional virtual reality company launching pre-orders for the Dreamer Headset 2000. The goal was to share my own creative interpretation of virtual reality.

Below I outlined my design process from start to finish.

    Design Process

My creative process began with brainstorming ideas and narrowing down a concept, followed by research on the topic, audience, and competitor designs to ensure relevance and originality. I then built an inspiration board to guide the project’s direction, which served as the foundation for sketches and design elements.

    sketches

Once the sketching phase was complete, I reviewed all drafts to determine which visuals best aligned with the concept. I finalized the strongest sketches and carefully selected elements to include in the project, removing anything that did not support the overall vision or effectiveness of the design.

    Draft revisions

The first draft served as a presentation piece, but both designs were rejected as the colors and textures conflicted with the intended clean, minimalist approach. This feedback guided the next phase, where I reshot the main image and revisited my original concept. Referencing the initial research and sketches kept the project aligned with its goals and led to the finalized poster.
